Holmes Cay's Belize casks have absolutely changed our entire perception of what rum can be. From the first time we tasted our first barrel, the feeling of a new discovery gave us the butterflies. It's a combination of richness, sweetness, incedible depth of flavor, and an unbelievable exotic blend of elements that sets Travelers Distillery apart from anything we'd ever tasted.

This release is the oldest cask Travellers has ever offered. At 16 years, the maturity of this bottle is immediately noticeable. This is the most refined of the Belize we've tasted so far, very integrated flavors and more delicate than its younger (9, 11, 15 year) siblings. It still has the incredible complexity of flavor, but the fire of the younger bottlings has been replaced by a warmth and subtlety that makes us think of a 30 year malt. Cocoa, tobacco, and molasses meet with tropical fruits like bananas, playing off the deep wood influence, and ending with a finish of exotic spices, sweets, and wonderful balance.

It's amazing to see how different all of the Belize releases are. Each one is an achievement in rum-making on its own, and as part of a collection they are truly remarkable.
