This week we have another mind-blowing rum from Holmes Cay. We had never done a rum before our first Belize pick from Holmes. And honestly we'd never really planned to. But that cask was so incredible it just redefined what we thought rum could be.

When we tasted this new Holmes Cay release, from Grays Distilling in Mauritius, we knew we had to get some for the club. Sadly there wasn't a whole cask available, so this one isn't an exclusive Beast Masters pick (no tater stickers!). But we did find out that there were about 20 cases left in the world of this stuff, and we scored 60 bottles for the club.

All the goodies we want in a terrific rum nose - banana, coconut, oak, sweet vanilla, a little rancio funk. But then the cognac aging adds some beautiful sweetness to it. Jammy fruit punch, some plum and apricot stone fruit goodness. Whole thing adds up to a beautiful nose of richness and sweets and lots of different layers opening up.

Wonderfully thick on the palate, cherries and more stone fruits, red jolly ranchers, little pops of terroir and spice happening there.

Just off the charts balanced finish. Perfect at 110 proof it’s got great body and spirit warmth but with absolutely incredible smoothness. Holmes Cay has done it again with another mind blowing rum here.
